For Indy World, Tanvi Anand B’26 questions the premise of authenticity that Western food present in order to criticize Indian restaurants. She looks deeper to condemn the question of authenticity itself as engendering forms of self-Orientalism by eateries and individuals in the western hemisphere.
“Indian restaurants need to exaggerate their ‘otherness’ by decorating their spaces with ‘exotic’ imagery so that the restaurant is considered ‘more authentic’ to be validated by its clientele.” Read more here.
In Feats for Issue 10, Leo Gordon B’23 discusses his experience writing a funeral speech for his friend Aidan. In the end, Gordon makes a distinction between the possibility of spoken and written last words.

In Metro, Kian Braulik B’24 places Providence arts union CitiArt amidst a larger history of local arts organizing. They find that, since there’s so little attention to arts organizing, looking at the archive helps to accurately pinpoint the needs of collectivized artists.
“CitiArt might look pathetic from our present vantage point. Since attempts at organizing artists prove so few and far between, however, CitiArt actually articulates the needs of collectivized artists better than present creative workers can.” Read more here.
